Cars are an essential part of life almost anywhere. There are plenty of boring sedans to take you from point A to point B. But why not make your daily commute a little more fun for the same price as your boring sedans. This is something that these 3 cars all have in common. Hyundai Veloster N, Volkswagen Golf GTI, and Honda Civic Si. These cars all have very common things the them. Performance, price, and reliability. But one has to stand out from the others, so first lets talk about each car individually. First is the Golf GTI. We start with this car because it is the original performance hatchback. In 1975 the Golf GTI debuted in Frankfurt Germany and would later be sold internationally because of its performance. Starting at $28,695, this car gets 30 miles per gallon and 228 horsepower. This 2.0 liter turbo will go 0 to 60 in 5.9 seconds with a top speed of 155. Overall this car is the original and most sought after hatch. Next is the Honda Civic Si. Starting at $25,200, this hatch is the cheapest. It also gets 36 miles per gallon and 205 horsepower. A 4 cylinder 1.5 liter turbo will get you from 0 to 60 in 6.8 seconds at a top speed of 137. Being the cheapest car this is most likely the best value for the amount you pay. Last but not least is the Hyundai Veloster N. Starting at $32,250, this is the most expensive hatch. With 28 miles per gallon and 275 horsepower, this hatch goes 0 to 60 in 5.1 seconds at a top speed of 160.

So in terms of price, performance, and reliability, all these cars give up one of those following criteria. the GTI would be best if you are looking for cheap a low price with high power. The Si is good for reliability and a good price but you lose power. The Veloster N has the most power and good reliability but a high price. So what it all comes down to is specs and preference. Certain people love certain brands and that’s what makes it easy to choose one of the three hatchbacks. So overall its up to you. There’s no wrong answer but if I were to choose it would be the Veloster N because it comes standard with sport+ mode.
