Music is something that has been around for thousands of years and is apart of almost every culture. So the question is why is it such a big deal and why does it make your feel different things. Music can affect emotional experience in many ways. It seems like there is a song for every feeling and emotion. Sad, happy, tired, bored. You name an emotion and there is probably a whole genre for it. But why is that. The best answer is pleasure. Almost everybody listens to music and for a good reason. It relieves stress for some and can alter moods for others. Music has a way of bringing people together. This because people like certain things and music can be an easy topic to agree on. Music can remind us of a memory or even change the way we perceive time. This is all because of how our brains are hardwired. For example, you don’t have to think about eating because you have to. Same goes for music. Because everything can be tempo or timing traced, humans perceive those timings as rhythm. Which is a repeated pattern of sound.
